Artist Biography:
Leila Zhou is an 8th grader from New Jersey. She loves playing sports, crocheting, and spending time with her beagle Avocado when she is not busy creating art. She enjoys quirky and funny TV shows such as Psyche or Community, and is inspired to make her own absurd yet hilarious shows or movies one day.

Art Description by the Artist:
In this painting, I captured a beautiful encounter between my beagle Avocado and a hummingbird in my backyard. They are enjoying the colorful Zinnias together, both happy and content. This reminds me of a quote from Anne Frank: “We all live with the objective of being happy; our lives are all different and yet the same.” We may come in different sizes, shapes and colors, but deep down, we all share the same joy, pain, hope and love. If a beagle could manage to get along with a hummingbird and share the beauty of this wonderful world, we humans can certainly do better.
